Horse Camp - October 2007

For the first week of October school holidays, Scout went to horse camp at Springwood Farms with her friend Charlie. It is a residential camp about an hour north of Sydney. The girls slept in converted railway cars and manage, somehow, to live for an entire week without junk food, cable TV and mobile phones. Isn't it amazing how tough our kids are when faced with true hardship?

Here Scout is on her horse Jake playing Crash and Burn (someone calls out 'Crash' and you have to turn left or 'Burn' and you have to turn right. If you turn the wrong way or don't turn properly or quickly enough, then you are out).

And here is my first attempt at uploading videos from my digital camera. There is sound with the first and third videos so you might want to check your speakers before playing them. The first video is the jumping event.

And the barrel racing ... they came in 2nd. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the sound with this one.

Here they are getting their 2nd place ribbon for the barrel racing.

In this event, Scout had to weave her horse between the posts. I'm not sure what the pony club name for this event is.

  • Wow, she certainly has a good 'seat' if that's what one calls it! The movies are good and clear... maybe its something you did to loose the sound on the second one because the sound comes over good and clear on the other two. What a fun camp this one looks, lucky girl. Pennie
