The girls all play different sports on different teams during winter sport so they decided to form their own team for summer sport. They did win a game, maybe two, but more importantly, had a great time. And that is worth all those early Saturday morning starts.
This is Scout's school dance group performing at the annual Sports Awards Dinner in the school hall. They were performing in front of their home crowd and were giving it all they had.
I recorded this on my iPhone so it's a bit hard to tell where she is on stage. Scout isn't the first dancer who starts, but the one on the left who, unfortunately, spends a bit of time behind the TV screen on stage. But she is the one dancing with the smaller dancer in the middle of the piece and is centre stage at the end.
The audience was so caught up in their performance that the hall was quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Quite an accomplishment in a room of 420 parents, coaches, teachers and students.
Her dance group was nominated for Sports Team of the Year for winning 1st place in their category at the Ryde Eisteddfod, beating out about 25 other school groups. First place also included a $500 cash prize which they donated to a community group that teaches dance to handicapped students. They plan to visit this group and take part in one of their classes to show their support and encourage their fellow dancers.
At the Sports Award dinner at school, Scout got three Coaches Awards for dance, netball and volleyball. Here she is with her friend Maire who also got a Coaches Award for netball.
And this is how you know that you are taking too long to take the photo.
This is one of the new ads for the 8 new colours of Smarties (translation: Australian equivalent of M&Ms). The choreographer, Dale Pope, is one of Scout's dance teachers and if you look closely, you will see Scout dancing in the ad and her lovely smile towards the end.
Enjoy.
To see the other ads, even though Scout isn't in them, do a search in You Tube for 'Smarties 8 colours'.
Scout and Matt are bookend cousins -- Scout is the youngest cousin on her dad's side of the family and Matt is the oldest. Matt and his family have just arrived in Australia and will be living here for the next couple of years.
Here is a photo of Matt, Alicia, Scout and their kids taken at the tower on Black Mountain. The next photo was taken at the War Memorial and the one at the bottom was taken outside Parliament House with Old Parliament House and the War Memorial in the background.
